Key aspects of hot dip galvanizing services
Process
Steel or iron products are cleaned and then immersed in a bath of molten zinc, creating a durable, bonded coating.
Protection
The zinc coating provides a barrier that prevents rust, and also offers sacrificial protection by corroding before the steel does.
Three-tiered protection
HDG protects steel in three ways:
The zinc coating acts as a physical barrier that isolates the underlying steel from corrosive elements.
If the coating is scratched and the steel is exposed, the zinc acts as a sacrificial anode and corrodes first, protecting the steel.
When zinc is exposed to the atmosphere, it naturally forms a dense, passive layer of zinc carbonate. This patina further slows the rate of corrosion.
Extended Lifespan & Durability
HDG provides a long-lasting, maintenance-free life of 50 to 75 years or more in rural environments. Even in highly corrosive coastal or industrial areas, it can provide reliable protection for decades. The resulting galvanized layer is significantly thicker than other methods (like paint system, electroplating which degrade faster and require frequent, costly reapplication) and can last for decades.
Application
It’s ideal for structural steel, providing a robust and reliable base for steel towers & structures used for T&D, Telecom, Renewable sector buildings and other infrastructure.
Quality
The process is standardized to international quality specifications like ISO 1461 and other internationally acceptable standards, and the thickness of the zinc layer can be controlled to ensure quality based on project requirements.
Additional benefits
Galvanized steel can often be used immediately after the process without further treatment. The service covers all accessible and inaccessible areas, even complex shapes.
